With regard to the situation on the EU market, experts have determined that, as expected from a moderate harvest, prices in the current season are moving in ranges significantly above the average price for the historical average of the period 5-year benchmark.
EU demand appears to have been at a good level in recent weeks and EU average provisional prices for March 20 are 22% above the reference period average.
Compared to the difficult previous season (oversupply in some Member States, notably Poland), a very significant price recovery was observed. The 2019/20 marketing campaign started on August 1. According to Wapa / Prognosfruit, the new harvest is relatively small (-20% compared to the previous year and -11% under the 5-year reference).
