Lloyd’s insurance broker Tysers has hired reinsurance specialists from Swiss Re and Aon to bolster its maritime and aviation team for Asia and Australasia, which accounts for a third of the unit’s business.
The new employees will join as Associate Directors on Tysers’ London-based reinsurance team.
Jane Smart comes from Swiss Re Asia to focus on innovative solutions and Cameron Nicholas will join the company in January 2021 from Aon Re to expand its maritime treaty business.
Smart has over 20 years of experience in the reinsurance industry and has worked as a broker and reinsurer in several international territories. As Senior Client Manager for Swiss Re Asia in Singapore, Smart has covered South East Asia, India and the Dragons.
Tysers seeks to leverage its market knowledge and specialist product knowledge to improve its bespoke customer solutions with a focus on alternative risk transfer, retrospective and prospective hedging, and parametric products.
Nicholas has experience building treaty and facultative reinsurance businesses in developing and mature markets. Most recently, Head of Production and Marketing at Aon Re, he will strengthen Tysers’ ability to provide its clients with optimal reinsurance solutions.
Tom Wilson, Managing Director of Tysers Marine and Aviation, said: “We are delighted that Jane is joining Tysers. His understanding of the appetites and underwriting requirements of large reinsurers will be invaluable in producing innovative solutions for our clients that are both effective and achievable.
“Cameron will be a fantastic addition to our international reinsurance team and will help us further build and expand our reinsurance portfolio following the recent integration of the RFIB and Tysers teams.
