Arden Software has released a new version of its Impact CAD software for the packaging industry offering a range of new features and product enhancements designed to streamline workflow.
This latest version includes improvements to graphics management, a wider range of file formats for exporting, enhancements for assembling 3D models, as well as a major new version of the Impact plug-in for Adobe Illustrator, which will offer for the first time a live 3D preview of the changes of works of art.

Improved graphics handling – improved support for 2D and 3D graphics, which improves the quality and speed of working with illustrations when generating 3D models
Expanded 3D file format exports – a wider range of 3D file formats can now be exported, complementing Impact’s import capabilities. New added file formats include Step Exchange (.STP), JT Open (.JT), Wavefront (.OBJ), Stanford Triangle Format (.PLY), and Stereo Lithography (.STL)
Improved plug-in for Adobe Illustrator – New Live Link feature provides 3D CAD preview of artwork changes
Improved DXF Export – Impact now supports exporting to a wider range of AutoCAD Exchange (DXF) formats, providing better file compatibility

Primary Project Support for Impact Enterprise – offered as a long-standing Impact feature to enable reuse and tracking of commonly used design parts that may have been manufactured in a product line. Support for Linked Revisions for Impact Enterprise – The ability to trace the reuse of a CAD design and any design variations that might have been based on it is also now available enterprise-wide for Impact Enterprise customers
Improved Layout Estimator – The layout estimator offers a what-if analysis of various layout machine / sheet combinations to achieve the most efficient, fastest or least expensive production run in short or long time. long term. The latest version of this plugin offers speed improvements, extended scan results, MS Excel export support, improved layout previews, custom gutter support, the ability to save and load default settings, along with many other enhancements.
Users can also expect the new nomenclature (BOM), which is expected to be released next year. This new functionality can accurately generate multi-page BOM reports from an Impact project, making it quick and easy to define all related items, including 2D and 3D parts that may have been added from the new libraries of customizable components.
