Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky on Saturday announced the appointment of Rohit Sood as commercial director for government verticals and smart cities in India.
According to the company, the growing number of complex threats targeting government institutions and personnel has made cyber defense a milestone for India.
The need and demand for cybersecurity in the country today is more evident than ever, he said in a statement.
Sood will report to Dipesh Kaura, Managing Director of Kaspersky (South Asia) and will be based in Delhi.
“My main goal will be to attract new government sector companies and smart cities and to create a strong partnership / association between Kaspersky and our customers,” Sood said.
Government agencies and institutions have become a popular target for APT groups who target them with ransomware, state sponsored attacks, DDoS attacks, and zero-day attacks, to name a few.
In his new role, Sood will focus on the needs of the government sector, helping it deploy precise security solutions.
“With the current situation where the need and demand for cybersecurity by businesses and government institutions has massively increased, we aim to raise awareness of cybersecurity in people and organizations,” Kaura said.
