The French milk brand Lactel has ventured into the Indian market with the launch of its ultra-high temperature (UHT) treated tonic milk in the country.
Rahul Kumar, Managing Director of Lactalis India, said: “UHT milk, with a market size of eight lakh liters per day in the country, is currently sold at Rs 64-74 per liter. Therefore, we have priced the product at Rs 70 per liter. We would like to have a market share of 5% (30 to 40,000 liters per day) in the next two years in this segment. “
The company claims to be ready to position itself in the Indian market with a strong emphasis on high quality products that meet French, Indian and global standards while ensuring the conservation of all nutritional values in their affordable one liter packaging. .
Founded in 1967, Lactel is present in more than 50 countries. The Lactalis Group is already claiming its presence in India with dairy brands such as Thirumala, Anik and Prabhat being part of the group. However, UHT tonic milk will be the first Lactel product available on the Indian market.
Lactalis India expects income of Rs 1,700 crore from Tirumala, Rs 1,400 crore from Prabhat Dairy and Rs 600 crore from Anik for fiscal year 2020-21.
