HUBBARDSVILLE, NY – A drug trafficking investigation led officers to a large cache of weapons, including dozens of guns, inside a Madison County home, officials said federal.
Shawn Tompkins, 40, of Hubbardsville, was arrested Wednesday on federal charges including possession of a firearm to be used in drug trafficking. He is also accused of intending to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana, acting US lawyer Antoinette T. Bacon said in a press release.
While investigating Tompkins for drug trafficking, officers searched his home and found:
- About 35 firearms, including assault rifles
- Thousands of rounds of ammunition
- Two silent
- 17 lower gun receivers
- A replica of the grenade launcher
Tompkins is being held without bail pending a hearing.
