Cad Bane made his debut in The clone wars Season 1 finale and would continue to appear in multiple story arcs over the course of the series. An easy-to-recognize Duros man thanks to his wide-brimmed hat, Cad became known to be the best bounty hunter in the galaxy after Boba’s father, Jango Fett, was killed in Attack of the clones. Calculative and unscrupulous, Cad was very happy to work for anyone who would pay him the right amount and ended up being employed by everyone from Darth Sidious to Jabba the Hutt and Count Dooku during the Clone Wars.
Far from being strangers, Cad Bane and Boba first crossed paths when Boba was still a boy. In fact, there was a time when Cad recruited Boba to help him escape from prison, after Cad allowed himself to be captured by the Republic in order to escape criminal Moralo Eval. Curiously, before The Clone Wars’ Initially canceled in 2014, Filoni had planned a multi-part story in which Cad mentored Boba to become a bounty hunter, having known Jango during his lifetime. He then allegedly trained her during a job, only for things to go wrong and end with Cad and Boba in a deadly stalemate.
As such, Boba Fett’s book would be a good place to revisit the rivalry between Cad and Boba, given Cad’s unknown fate after the Clone Wars. The animated series Star Wars Rebels gave the character a subtle scream in the form of a graffiti image of him designed by Sabine Wren, so it’s clear that Cad was quite infamous long after the Galactic Empire came to power. It is not at all inconceivable that he is still active 14 years later Rebels, around the same time that Boba and Fennec take control of the former criminal case of the late Jabba the Hutt, as seen in The Mandalorianteaser of Boba Fett’s book.
It would also be very interesting to see how Cad has evolved or not evolved over time. Boba Fett’s book start. Boba, while still a ruthless bounty hunter, is a changed man after his impending death in the Sarlacc Pit and now has a separate code of honor as evidenced by the fact that he saved Fennec’s life and helped Din save Grogu after Din agrees to return his Mandalorian. armor for him. Cad, on the other hand, may have only gotten colder and cunning since the days of the Clone Wars and could serve as a compelling foil for Boba in the series, especially when it comes to the various sense of morality of the couple.
More than that, it would be nice to close Cad’s story, given the central role he played in the events of The clone wars. Because the show was canceled after Season 5, and wasn’t relaunched until later for a shorter Season 6 and 7, Cad was one of the many topics that ended up being left open and didn’t. yet received some form of resolution. Now, Boba Fett’s book not only gets the chance to rectify that, but also to feature fans who have never watched The clone wars to one of the most fascinating criminals for hire in a galaxy far, far away.
Boba Fett’s book stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen. The series will air on Disney + in December 2021.
