The arrival of the Brussels, Belgium, took place within 48 hours of Health Canada approval, a key logistical requirement of the federal government. Meeting the deadline was made possible through extensive collaboration with the government of Canada to move more vaccines Europe in Canada. In addition, the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines requires the coordination of many teams, including customs brokers, airports, ground transportation teams, and internal security teams working with provincial and federal law enforcement agencies. , all at a time when lockdowns and border closures are commonplace.
Delivery of the first Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is remarkable as it will be the first vaccine to arrive in the Northwest Territories. The rollout in Canada comes shortly after the FedEx network began delivering both Pfizer-BioNTech and later Moderna vaccines across the United States, starting in mid-December. FedEx is well positioned to manage COVID-19 vaccine shipments around the world with temperature control solutions, near real-time monitoring capabilities, and a dedicated healthcare team to support express transportation of vaccines and bioscience mailings.

Before the vaccines are shipped, teams will put them in packages that meet the temperature requirements specified by the manufacturer.
These heat-sensitive vaccines will move quickly through the FedEx Express Canada network with consistent vaccine status reports, thanks to the FedEx SenseAware technology packaged with the shipment. With SenseAware, dedicated agents are able to monitor critical data, including temperature, location and light exposure, to ensure vaccine integrity and safety, and enable teams to be fully prepared when the shipment arrives.
