Gold prices climbed Rs 346 on Wednesday to Rs 46 265 per 10 grams in futures trading as speculators set new positions on robust spot demand.
On the Multi-Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for June delivery traded up 346 rupees, or 0.75 percent, at 46,265 rupees per 10 grams on a business turnover of 12,491 lots.
Analysts believe that the new positions created by the participants have led to a rise in the price of gold. However, New York gold prices fell 0.06% to $ 1,741.90 an ounce.
