PokerStars hosts numerous online poker tournament series each year, but the two most popular – and longest running – are WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) and SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker). As PokerStars makes its way through the US states and sets the spring schedule, SCOOP is heading to Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey.
The SCOOP announcements for the US market followed individual tournaments in each state last weekend, and two of the three did not go as planned. The Pennsylvania event was the only one to honor the prize pool guarantee. Pokerfuse calculated the numbers and told the story.
With that in mind, PokerStars released the PASCOOP schedule this week.
Details on SCOOP in New Jersey and Michigan will be available in the coming days.
PASCOOP for PokerStars Pennsylvania
First, the aforementioned April 4th tournament for Pennsylvania players was Pennsyl-MANIA. The $ 300 buy-in tournament offered a $ 400,000 guarantee, five re-entries and two days of action. And it turned out well:
–Total entries: 1476 (919 players, 557 re-entrances).
–Total prize fund: 413,280 US dollars.
–Total paid players: 251
–Minimum payout: US $ 544.53.
– Winner: throwitinthebag ($ 63,084).
Following this, PokerStars announced that PASCOOP will run from April 17th to May 3rd. There will be 40 events, each with three buy-in levels, for a total of 120 tournaments. And in total, they guarantee over $ 2 million in prize money.
Buy-ins will range from $ 5 to $ 1,000, but players can find many ways to win seats for free or at a discount. The PASCOOP Contributor Freeroll on May 2 will give away $ 15,000 worth of Main Event tickets. Daily Second Chance Freerolls will bring in $ 15,000 in tournament tickets throughout the series.
And of course, the Main Event on May 2 at 6:00 pm ET will offer three levels:
-Event 36-L: $ 30 NLHE Mini Main Event ($ 20,000)
-Event 36-M: $ 75 NLHE Mid Main Event buy-in ($ 40K GTD)
-Event 36-H: $ 300 Buy-In NLHE Main Event ($ 200K GTD)
Each of them allows up to five re-entrances per player.

Last year’s PASCOOP was the first in Pennsylvania to offer 50 events and $ 2 million in guarantees. This streak went well enough with 79,910 entries totaling over $ 3.2 million in prize money.
MISCOOP for PokerStars Michigan
On April 4th, PokerStars hosted its first Michigan Classic for Michigan players. For the $ 300 tournament, the organizers set the guarantee at $ 500,000 and apparently overestimated participation.
-Total entries: 1551 (1025 players, 526 re-entrances)
–Total Prize Pool: $ 500,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool (overlay $ 65,740).
–Total paid players: 251
–Minimum payout: US $ 658.80.
–Winner: moneydijon ($ 76,319.05).
It’s fair to assume that PokerStars set the bar high for the Michigan Classic due to the huge turnout at the first MICOOP (Michigan Championship of Online Poker) held in February and March to welcome new players from the state. The entire series guaranteed over $ 1.4 million but paid out $ 2.2 million, and only four of the 60 events represented overlap situations.
PokerStars will offer the first ever MISCOOP, a Michigan version of SCOOP, but it will run later than Pennsylvania. It is scheduled for May 8-24, but so far this is the amount of information.

NACOOP for PokerStars New Jersey
The smallest of the three PokerStars markets in the US activated its New Jersey Classic market over the weekend. The April 4th tournament required a $ 500 buy-in and guaranteed only $ 100,000. However, he missed.
-Total entries: 178 (131 players, 47 re-entrances)
–Total Prize Pool: $ 100,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool ($ 16,340 overlap).
–Total paid players: 31
–Minimum payment: 1,087.57 US dollars.

NACOOP 2020 consisted of 48 tournaments with $ 1.2 million guaranteed. But he surpassed PokerStars’ expectations, winning nearly $ 1.8 million from 33,738 entrants to the series.
PokerStars is already in the USA
PokerStars currently operates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The site has been in New Jersey for many years, launched in March 2016 and serves a significant portion of this small and somewhat saturated online poker market. It launched its PokerStars PA site in late 2019 and remains the only poker site in the state almost 1.5 years later.
When Michigan opened to online poker sites this year, PokerStars was the first to launch them in the last days of January. BetMGM (powered by PartyPoker) launched on March 22nd to provide some competition.
PokerStars is currently unable to connect its three US poker sites to provide liquidity so players can split tables in cash games and tournaments. This would obviously be easier than setting up three series like SCOOP in sequence for three different markets.
The only poker operator that has currently connected their sites in different states is WSOP.com on the 888poker platform. They combined their player pools for Nevada and Delaware in March 2015, with New Jersey joining the group in April 2018.
Pennsylvania and Michigan can now enter into this multi-state online poker agreement, but have not yet done so as it requires the signing of the agreement by the governor of each state. When that happens, PokerStars will have the liquidity it needs to expand its influence in the US market.
Global PokerStars SCOOP
Meanwhile, the global dotcom network PokerStars is hosting the annual SCOOP series in large numbers. The series started on April 4 and will run until April 28. 102 events turn into 306 individual tournaments, and in total they guarantee a prize pool of $ 100 million.
The series began in 2009, and before SCOOP 2021, 644 events (1,932 individual tournaments) were played in it, in which 9,280,540 participants were registered. The prize fund for all years was $ 999,353,882.
On April 4, 2021, the first three tournaments that played on their findings received over $ 1 million in prize pools, bringing the total awarded in SCOOP history to $ 1,000,444,302. Breaking that $ 1 billion mark was a milestone for PokerStars and one of its signature COOP events.

However, the biggest events of SCOOP 2021 have yet to play out. These will be the main events, all scheduled for Sunday 25 April:
-Event 92-L: $ 109 buy-in in the NLHE 8-Max Main Event ($ 3M GTD)
– Event 92-M: $ 1,050 Buy-In NLHE 8-Max Main Event ($ 5M GTD)
-Event 92-H: $ 10,300 buy-in, NLHE 8-Max Main Event ($ 5M GTD)
-Event 93-L: $ 109 buy-in to PLO 6-Max Main Event ($ 350K GTD)
-Event 93-M: $ 1,050 buy-in in the 6-Max PLO Main Event ($ 750K GTD)
-Event 93-H: $ 10,300 buy-in, 6-Max PLO Main Event ($ 1.25M)
Buy-ins for the series range from $ 2.20 to $ 25,000. There are also $ 100K in prizes for four Leaderboard events – one for each buy-in level (Low, Medium and High) and the overall leaderboard.
