India was the fastest growing app market in 2020; Education apps grew at the fastest pace

Mobile market research company Adjust said India was the fastest growing app market in 2020. The analysis shows that India’s mobile app growth in 2020 was 49 percent compared to 2019. The fastest growing category in India was education, with games showing the largest overall growth. India grew the fastest in terms of mobile app growth and grew 49 percent in 2020, according to data provided to Adjust. While India had the highest growth in terms of the apps and games category, Argentina had the highest growth in just playing.

India has 700 million unique mobile subscribers, including 451 million Internet users, according to the Indian Mobile Marketing Association in the report. The report also says that while COVID-19 has led to an increase in online shopping across the country, growth in e-commerce apps in India was relatively low in 2020. Entertainment was the seventh largest vertical in India. Overall, the gaming vertical has seen the most significant growth in all countries, with Argentina leading the way with more than 60 percent growth over the previous year. It was followed by Vietnam, Brazil, China, Mexico, Colombia and other countries. India was in 12th place in terms of the growth rate of the gaming industry.
