Ørsted, a multinational energy company based in Denmark, has appointed David Ortiz as head of New England’s Marketplace.
Ortiz joined Oersted of former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo, where he served as chief of staff. He will be responsible for developing Ørsted’s overall market strategy and overseeing its execution in New England.
“Ortiz has extensive experience in political strategy, public policy, stakeholder engagement and communications throughout New England,” said Matt Morrissey, head of US market relations and strategy at Orsted. “His extensive experience and strong regional relationships will help us further develop our Revolution Wind and future projects in New England.”
As chief of staff, Ortiz was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Raimondo administration’s agenda, as well as managing the governor’s office and executive staff. Ortiz previously served as deputy head of the election campaign of Raimondo. He began his career as a journalist for Massachusetts and Rhode Island publications including The Standard-Times, Cambridge Chronicle, and Providence Business News.
Ortiz will split his time between the company’s headquarters in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island.
