Open interest in the crude oil futures markets fell for a third straight session on Wednesday, this time by about 18,200 contracts in light of preliminary reports from the CME Group. In contrast, volumes rose for the fourth day in a row, now by about 5.5 thousand contracts.

Prices WTI fell on Wednesday after new highs in 2021, topping the $ 70 a barrel mark. The negative session came in tandem with a decline in open interest and hints that a deeper pullback remains undesirable, at least in the very short term.
